Julia Xanthos Liddy is an experienced photographer & video journalist based in Brooklyn, NY. Her time spent on staff at a major New York City newspaper helped her learn how to find the "picture in between the pictures" and effectively convey her subjects' stories. Her passion for telling stories through video earned several awards through the years most notably a NY Emmy Award. Julia’s distinct style combines her photojournalistic experience with a fine art background, producing work that is striking and immediately accessible (her editorial website can be viewed here).
When documenting your momental life events, Julia brings her sense of compassion and humor to capture memories that will be timeless. She commits to a modest number of assignments to ensure that every subject receives the proper attention before and beyond their personalized session. Julia is the principal photographer and videographer and works respectfully and discreetly in order to capture the candid moments as they occur.

Her "Young Love" photo series on Instagram is a constant source of creativity for her. Through this passion project she has found endless amounts of romance on the sidewalks, at the beach, riding the subways. It has become her love letter to the city she adores.
Aside from her camera, the focus of her life is her family. Julia lives in Brooklyn with her two Tommys (her husband and son) and sweet little Zoe.
FUN FACT: While photographing a wedding in 2014, Julia met and fell in love with the love of her life, Tommy, and eight months later they were married. Their family and friends celebrated with with a warm-hearted reception in her parent’s backyard, still fondly referred to a “Lovefest.”

In 1987 Julia received her first camera, a Fischer Price, as a Christmas present from Santa Claus. She has fond memories of waiting in the parking lot of Fotomat to pick up her developed 110mm film and 3x5 prints.
